What are anti-wrinkle treatments?
Anti-wrinkle treatments are injectable treatments used to temporarily reduce movement in selected facial muscles.
Repeated facial movement contributes to the development of expression lines over time, particularly across areas such as the forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet.
At Sculpted Rose Aesthetics & Laser, treatment is personalised according to your facial movement, muscle strength, anatomy and the result you would like to achieve.
The aim is not necessarily to remove every line or every bit of expression.
Some clients prefer a very smooth result, while others want to soften lines while retaining more natural movement.
Your treatment plan will be discussed individually before treatment.
Which areas can be treated?
Anti-wrinkle treatment can be used across several areas of the face.

Forehead Lines
Treatment can reduce movement through the forehead muscles and soften the appearance of horizontal expression lines.

Frown Lines
The vertical lines that develop between the eyebrows can be softened by reducing movement in the muscles responsible for frowning.

Crow's Feet
Treatment can soften the fine lines around the outer corners of the eyes while maintaining a natural expression.

Brow Lift
Carefully selected treatment points may be used to subtly influence the position of the brows and create a more open appearance around the eyes.
Lip Flip
Masseter Treatment
Nefertiti Lift
Excessive Underarm Sweating
IMPORTANT: Prescribing Appointment Required
Anti-wrinkle medicines are prescription-only medicines.
Before any anti-wrinkle treatment can take place at Sculpted Rose, you must first attend a full face-to-face consultation with our qualified nurse prescriber.
This appointment is required before treatment, even if you have previously had anti-wrinkle injections elsewhere.
How do anti-wrinkle treatments work?
The treatment temporarily reduces signalling between selected nerves and muscles.
This reduces muscle activity in carefully chosen areas.
As the movement decreases, expression lines caused by repeated muscle contraction may appear softer.
Treatment does not permanently alter the muscle.
Over time, the effect gradually wears off and normal movement returns.
What happens during treatment?
Once your face-to-face prescription has been completed and treatment is authorised, your appointment begins with an assessment of your facial movement.
You may be asked to:
- Frown
- Raise your eyebrows
- Smile
- Squint
- Perform other facial movements relevant to the treatment area
This allows your practitioner to assess how your muscles are working before selecting treatment points.
The skin is cleansed and a series of small injections are performed using a fine needle.
Treatment itself is usually relatively quick.
When will I see a difference?
Anti-wrinkle treatment does not work immediately.
You may begin to notice a change after several days.
The effect continues to develop, and the result is generally assessed at around 14 days.
We recommend avoiding repeated checking during the first few days because different muscles may respond at slightly different speeds.
How long does treatment last?
For many clients, the effect lasts approximately three to four months.
However, this varies considerably.
Factors can include:
- Individual metabolism
- Muscle strength
- Treatment area
- Dose prescribed
- Previous treatment
- Lifestyle
Movement gradually returns as the effect wears off.
Why do I need a prescription appointment?
The medicines used for anti-wrinkle treatment are prescription-only medicines in the UK and cannot simply be administered without an individual prescription.
Your nurse prescriber needs to assess you in person before deciding whether treatment is appropriate.
Can Emma prescribe my treatment?
No. Emma performs the aesthetic treatment, but the prescribing decision is made independently by the clinic’s qualified nurse prescriber.
Do I need another prescription if I have had treatment elsewhere?
Yes. A previous prescription from another clinic does not automatically cover treatment at Sculpted Rose.
You must complete our prescribing process before treatment.
How do I arrange my prescription?
We hold regular prescribing clinics at Sculpted Rose.
Simply book onto the next prescribing clinic or contact us and we can guide you through the process.
Is there any downtime?
Most clients return to their normal daily activities after treatment.
Temporary effects may include:
- Small raised bumps at injection points
- Redness
- Bruising
- Tenderness
- Mild headache
- Temporary tightness or heaviness
- Mild asymmetry while the treatment develops
The small bumps usually settle relatively quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much do anti-wrinkle treatments cost?
Anti-wrinkle treatments at Sculpted Rose start from £130.
Pricing varies depending on the treatment area and individual prescription.
Please view the full price list for current prices.
Do I need a prescription before treatment?
Yes. A full face-to-face appointment with our nurse prescriber must take place before any anti-wrinkle treatment.
We can arrange this for you through one of our prescribing clinics.
Why can’t I just book treatment straight away?
Because the medicine used is prescription only.
Your suitability must first be assessed by an appropriate prescriber and an individual prescription must be in place before treatment can proceed.
Can I have the prescription appointment and treatment on the same day?
This depends on the prescribing clinic, your individual assessment and the arrangements in place for your treatment.
Please contact us or view the next prescribing clinic for details.
Will I look frozen?
Not necessarily. Treatment can be planned according to the level of movement reduction you prefer.
Some clients want a smoother result, while others prefer to retain more facial movement.
Your anatomy and response will also influence the outcome.
Can I still move my forehead?
Usually, yes, depending on the treatment plan and dose prescribed.
The degree of movement reduction varies from client to client.
How quickly does anti-wrinkle treatment work?
You may notice the first changes within several days.
The treatment continues to develop and should normally be assessed at approximately 14 days.
How long does it last?
Many clients experience an effect for approximately three to four months.
Some experience shorter or longer durations.
What happens at my two-week review?
A review allows us to assess how your facial muscles have responded once the treatment has fully developed.
Any further treatment would only be considered if clinically appropriate and within the parameters of your prescription.
Can I exercise after treatment?
We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for approximately 24 hours.
Can I wear makeup afterwards?
Makeup can normally be applied gently once the injection points have closed.
Avoid excessive rubbing or pressure.
When should I book before an event?
Do not book anti-wrinkle treatment immediately before an important event.
The treatment needs around two weeks to fully develop, and temporary bruising is possible.
We recommend allowing several weeks before weddings, holidays or important occasions.
Can anti-wrinkle treatment remove deep lines?
Lines caused primarily by facial movement may soften as muscle activity reduces.
However, deeper lines that are already visible when your face is completely relaxed may not disappear entirely.
Skin treatments may sometimes be recommended alongside anti-wrinkle treatment to address overall skin quality.
Can anti-wrinkle treatment lift my brows?
A subtle brow lift may be possible in suitable clients by carefully balancing selected muscles around the brow.
The result is dependent on anatomy and should not be compared with a surgical brow lift.
Can anti-wrinkle treatment be combined with dermal filler?
Potentially, yes. The treatments perform different roles.
Anti-wrinkle treatment primarily addresses selected muscle movement, while dermal fillers are used for volume and structural support.
A personalised plan can be created where both are appropriate.
Who is anti-wrinkle treatment not suitable for?
Treatment may not be appropriate if you:
- Are under 18
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have an active infection in the treatment area
- Are currently unwell
- Have certain neurological or muscular conditions
- Take medication that may interact with treatment
- Have experienced a previous serious reaction
- Have not completed the required prescribing appointment
- Have expectations that cannot realistically be achieved
The final decision about suitability rests with the nurse prescriber.
