Laser Thread Vein Removal for the Body

From £50 per session

What are thread veins?

Thread veins, sometimes called spider veins or telangiectasia, are small visible blood vessels that appear close to the surface of the skin.

They may look red, purple or blue and commonly appear on areas including the legs and body. Although usually harmless, some clients feel self-conscious about their appearance.

At Sculpted Rose Aesthetics & Laser, we offer laser treatment for suitable thread veins on the body. We do not currently treat facial thread veins.

How does laser thread vein removal work?

Laser treatment delivers controlled light energy to the visible vessel. The energy is absorbed by the blood within the vein and converted into heat.

This heat damages the targeted vessel while aiming to minimise the effect on the surrounding skin. The treated vessel may initially darken before gradually becoming less visible as the body clears it naturally.

The treatment does not remove or interrupt the body’s essential circulation. Blood is naturally redirected through healthier vessels.

What areas can be treated?

Suitable small thread veins may be treated on areas of the body such as:

  • Legs
  • Thighs
  • Calves
  • Ankles
  • Torso
  • Other appropriate body areas following assessment

We do not use this treatment for facial thread veins, large varicose veins or veins associated with symptoms of underlying venous disease.

Is a consultation and patch test required?

Yes. A consultation and patch test are compulsory before a full treatment can be performed.

During the consultation, we will assess:

  • The size and colour of the vessels
  • Their location
  • Your skin type
  • Your medical history
  • Medication
  • Previous vein treatment
  • Whether the vessels appear suitable for cosmetic laser treatment

Some veins may be more appropriate for assessment by a GP, vascular specialist or medical vein clinic.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies according to:

  • The number of visible vessels
  • Their size, depth and colour
  • The treatment area
  • Skin type
  • Individual response

Several treatments may be required. Some vessels respond more effectively than others, and complete removal cannot be guaranteed.

New thread veins can also develop in the future, even when previously treated vessels have responded successfully.

What does the treatment feel like?

Clients commonly describe a brief hot or snapping sensation as the laser is applied.
Cooling may be used to improve comfort and protect the skin. Treatment time will depend on the size of the area.

Who may not be suitable?

Treatment may not be suitable for clients who:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have active infection or broken skin in the area
  • Are taking certain photosensitising medication
  • Have recently tanned skin
  • Have certain medical conditions
  • Have large, raised or symptomatic varicose veins
  • Have unexplained leg swelling, pain, inflammation or skin changes

Clients with painful veins, swelling, heaviness, warmth, ulceration, bleeding or sudden changes should seek medical assessment rather than cosmetic laser treatment.

What should I expect after treatment?

Immediately after treatment, the area may appear red or slightly swollen. The veins can temporarily look darker or more noticeable before they begin to fade.

Temporary effects may include:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Warmth
  • Tenderness
  • Bruising
  • Darkening of the treated vessel
  • Crusting
  • Temporary changes in skin colour

Full aftercare instructions will be provided.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you treat thread veins on the face?

No. Sculpted Rose currently provides laser thread-vein treatment for suitable areas of the body only.

Can you treat varicose veins?
No. Large, raised or symptomatic varicose veins require assessment and treatment by an appropriately qualified medical or vascular professional.
Will the vein disappear immediately?
Some vessels may show an immediate visible response, while others darken and gradually fade over the following weeks.
Is the result permanent?
A successfully treated vessel may remain closed, but the treatment cannot prevent new vessels from developing elsewhere.
Can I have treatment with a tan?
No. Tanned skin can increase the risk of adverse effects. Sun exposure and artificial tanning must be avoided for the period advised before and after treatment.
